Degree pathways

Start your study journey with a TAFE diploma and build a clear pathway into higher education.

Many of our courses offer packaged pathways with pre‑arranged credit into related bachelor degrees, giving you a supported transition and the chance to fast‑track your studies.

Even if your course isn’t part of a packaged pathway, TAFE diplomas and advanced diplomas can still be used to gain entry into university, with credit often available for the work you’ve already completed.

Studying at TAFE gives you practical, job‑ready skills, the potential to reduce your study load, course duration and fees, and earlier access to industry experience and professional networks.

Explore pathway partners and credit arrangements below to see where your TAFE qualification can take you.

Package application tips

TAFE International WA (TIWA) can organise a packaged offer that includes both your TAFE diploma and your bachelor degree.

For pathway packages, you only need to apply for one student visa for the full package. The higher education degree will be considered your principal course.

  • Before starting any application, you may want to contact the university or higher education provider to confirm how much credit you will receive for each course.
  • To apply, you must use an education agent who is registered with both TIWA and your chosen higher education partner. You can search for an agent near you.
  • Some TAFE courses may require a higher level of English. Check the admission requirements on the course page in our course catalogue. If you need to improve your English, you may be able to study with one of TIWA's English language partners.

I made connections with local Australian students and my English proficiency improved significantly during my TAFE course. The teachers were nice and friendly, the courses were industry-related and practical.  TAFE helped to prepare me for university.  After completing my TAFE Degree pathway course and transitioning to university I felt better prepared than some of my university classmates.

I came to Perth through a study package from TAFE to ECU. Studying at TAFE was great. The lecturers are knowledgeable and the study mode itself is holistic. This prepared me well and by the time I started my practical training I felt confident. When I enrolled into university I was ready. The best part was that I had to do just two years of university study as I received one year of advanced standing from my TAFE studies.
