Semester dates
Most TAFE courses begin in either February or July each year. You must be ready to join your classes on the start dates indicated below.
TAFE student orientation takes place about one week before your classes start – details will be outlined in your Letter of Offer. View more information about orientation
Semester dates can vary between portfolios, so please check with your college teaching area for exact dates.

TAFE applications close on Friday 1 November 2024.
Students already in Australia
Onshore applications will be assessed depending on availability of course places.
To secure your place, you should:
- make payment as soon as possible, as some popular courses reach full capacity; and
- check your student visa requirements on the Home Affairs website(opens in a new tab).
Public holidays
In Western Australia there are days each year considered as significant, including special events. These are known as public holidays.
For many workers and students, public holidays mean a day without work.
If a public holiday takes place over a weekend, usually the next working day will be taken as the public holiday.
