The WA Regional TAFE International Student Bursary gives international students a unique experience of life in beautiful regions of WA, while receiving high quality education and training.
Bursary details
Enrol in an eligible study package* at a WA regional TAFE college to receive:
- AUD$5,000 bursary;
- support to find work and a place to stay in the area;
- access to potential migration pathways to extend your stay in Australia; and
- a genuine Australian life experience!

Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for application and bursary payments, students must:
- be a genuine international student intending to study on a subclass 500 visa. Must provide proof to TIWA Admissions of either:
- 1) student visa grant; or
- 2) student visa application;
- commence in February or July 2025;
- maintain a continuous enrolment over at least one year in a valid regional course pathway;
- maintain ongoing residency in the nominated regional location for the duration of your bursary period;
- meet academic and English language requirements prior to commencement of each course; and
- understand the bursary will be paid to awarded students in one of two ways, either as:
- two payments ($2,500 each semester, with the first payment approximately six weeks after the start of first semester); or
- one payment ($5,000 in second semester).
- meet financial requirements and obligations for the course without needing or relying on the bursary for tuition fees, resource fees, and/or material fees.
Albany
Located on the south coast of WA, Albany(opens in a new tab) is known for amazing beaches and beautiful heritage buildings.
With a large selection of retail hubs, eateries and entertainment venues all within walking distance of the town square, Albany is a well-connected community that’s easy to explore.
At South Regional TAFE Albany campus, you can study Community Services, Individual Support and Early Childhood Education packages. The campus has an extensive library of books and electronic resources.

Broome
Broome is a top tourist destination(opens in a new tab) with a tropical climate and relaxed lifestyle. This region is great for adventuring, with national parks, native wildlife and unique landscapes.
North Regional TAFE Broome campus is near the town centre and iconic Cable Beach. At Broome you can study Commercial Cookery, Community Services, Early Childhood Education and Hospitality packages.

Bunbury
Known for dolphins, calm waters and green mangroves packed with wildlife, the Bunbury(opens in a new tab) area is perfect for students who want to be close to nature.
South Regional TAFE Bunbury campus offers courses in Commercial Cookery, Community Services, Early Childhood Education, Hospitality Management and Individual Support packages. With the fine dining Epicure Training Restaurant and child care centre on campus, there is a range of opportunities to gain real world work experience.
Geraldton
Coastal town Geraldton(opens in a new tab) is four hours drive north of Perth, known for its great fishing spots and other outdoor adventures.
At Central Regional TAFE (CR TAFE) Geraldton campus, you can study Commercial Cookery, Community Services, Early Childhood Education, Information Technology, Nursing and Patisserie. CR TAFE offers on-campus student accommodation at Pepperell Village, purpose built for students studying at the college.

Kalgoorlie
Kalgoorlie(opens in a new tab) is a modern outback city of more than 30,000 people, with a community full of opportunities for newcomers. Kalgoorlie’s city centre has everything you need, while outside the town you can explore the iconic red outback.

Mandurah
WA's largest regional city, Mandurah(opens in a new tab), is less than an hour drive from Perth. It features boardwalks, canals and dolphin spotting in an estuary twice the size of Sydney Harbour.
You can study Commercial Cookery at the Mandurah campus, which is part of the Peel Education and Training (PET) campus, sharing the campuses of Murdoch University and John Tonkin College.
Northam
Situated in WA’s Avon Valley region(opens in a new tab), Northam(opens in a new tab) is a quiet, charming town of less than 10,000 people. Northam is great for outdoor adventures, full of gorgeous scenery, hiking trails and the magnificent Avon River.
Northam is known for its agriculture and farming; the grain, wheat, barley, sheep and cattle industries are prominent in this region. International students at Northam campus can expect plenty of part time and casual job opportunities to help fund travelling and discovering more of WA!
