Advance your event management skills to a supervisory level through this qualification. Under the guidance of senior event personnel, you’ll learn how to work independently and make operational event management decisions using plans, policies and procedures to direct activities.

This course will provide you with a range of events administration and operational skills to prepare and present proposals, comply with regulations, organise and manage sponsorship, manage finances and budgets, manage volunteers and coordinate marketing activities.

Event management can be diverse in nature and this qualification provides a pathway to work in events in a range of industries including tourism and travel, hospitality, sport, cultural, and community sectors.

  • Completion of SIT30522 Certificate III in Events or equivalent to Australian Year 12 is required for entry into this course.

Resource fees are for consumables you use in your course e.g. paint, internet etc. You pay this fee to your college at enrolment. If your course goes longer than one semester, the resource fee may not need to be paid in one amount but may be spaced out over the duration of your course. Your college will advise you of the payment amount each semester.

Material fees are for items that remain your property after the course has been completed e.g. personal protective equipment, tools, text books etc.

Work placement

There are no mandated work placements within our training package, however, we regularly place all our students and use our industry contacts to offer support for trade and consumer events throughout the year on an ad-hoc and as required basis. Students engage with both trade operators and the public, which is invaluable for their development and networking opportunities.

To achieve this qualification, students must demonstrate competency in 20 units. These 20 are comprised of 13 core units and 7 elective units. Elective units listed below have been selected in consultation with industry.

Students who enrol into this qualification will be eligible for credit transfer of the units that they have already achieved. Fees paid by international students are set on a commercial basis and are paid as a whole of course fee - no refund will apply to credit transfers. Assessment methods

The methods of assessment and evidence gathering used in this course is governed by the individual unit requirements indicating skills must be demonstrated in the workplace, such as live events, or a simulated environment that reflects such events. Evidence gathering uses a multi-pronged approach such as third-party evidence from the charity, suppliers, sponsors, and guests affiliated with their charity event, and where necessary practical demonstration/observation methods in a simulated environment and confirming the underpinning knowledge within supervised classroom environment where the student can demonstrate that they fully understand the events industry, its processes and considerations for meeting industry and client expectations. 

These assessment strategies and evidence gathering are in accordance with the relevant training package or accreditation guidelines. Detailed Information is available in the assessment matrix, learning plans and assessment tools for each of the units of competency. Assessors use this matrix to ensure assessments, are undertaken across the duration of the course, rather than clustered together at particular times.

The following learning resources, facilities and equipment are available at each campus so that you can achieve the skill and knowledge requirements of this course.

Learning resources may include access to Blackboard, videos, Power Points, industry journals, hand-outs, EventsAir, computer access, internet access, data projector, whiteboard, butchers paper, open plan classroom for undertaking project work, provision of external event(s) through industry contacts, event venues and props.

Facilities and equipment may include access to operational documentation used to manage on-site event staging, briefing papers, event programs and schedules, information and sales kits, invoices and receipts, site maps, sponsor advertisements, operational and capacity information for venues and sites, current industry technology and software for processing event registrations, technical equipment and resources required for marketing activities.
