Edington Berejena dreamt of becoming a highly qualified electrician. This took him all the way from his home in Zimbabwe to Perth in Western Australia (WA). And now, with multiple qualifications behind him and a full time job with an Australian company, Edington is enjoying the results of his hard work. 

If you want to make a difference in someone’s life, you might consider a career in nursing and community services. Whether it’s assisting an elderly person with their medication, teaching a toddler their ABCs, or helping someone overcome mental health or addiction issues — this career path is certainly a rewarding one. 

With a long time passion for cooking, Socoro Pagayon swapped her mathematics degree for a career in the kitchen. She completed three courses – SIT30816 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and SIT40516 Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and a SIT50416 Diploma of Hospitality Management – at South Metropolitan TAFE’s Bentley campus in order to follow her dream.

Moving to a new city to study can be both a fun adventure and a huge challenge. So, we reached out to TAFE International Western Australia (TIWA) alumni to learn more about their experience, what they’re doing now and what advice they could offer to others considering a similar path.
